Living alone can be tough. That’s why I am SO grateful to have my pup, Ella, with me everyday. Yes, I still call her a pup (cause she acts like one!) even though she’s TWELVE years old now. Crazy!
I just love having her around. She keeps me company, forces me to take breaks from work, and just makes me smile all day long. If you didn’t know, Ella, is my little yorkie. I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old and could fit in the palm of my hand. To follow along with her and our adventures together, make sure you follow me on Instagram where I share pictures of her on my IG Stories daily.
So why am I talking about Ella today? Well, with us heading into the winter months, we’ll all be spending more time at home and that means more time with our furry friends. Not complaining about that at all! 😉
Luckily, there’s a new show debuting on Amazon Prime on November 20th (my birthday!!) that we can enjoy right along side our fur children. The Pack is an unscripted series that celebrates the incredible bond between dogs and their human companions. It’s hosted by Lindsey Vonn (hello Olympic Gold Medalist!) and her own dog, Lucy. The show features 12 teams of dogs and their humans competing in an epic multi-continent adventure. There is $750,000 at stake for the winning duo, $500,000 for them to keep and an additional $250,000 for an animal charity of their choosing.
The duos will have to complete fun, exciting challenges in every locale they visit. The teams will have to depend on their understanding of one another’s strengths and weaknesses and prove to have the strongest bond in the pack.
I am so excited to watch the premier with Ella on my birthday and I encourage you and your pooch to do the same!
Healthy Vegan Peanut Butter Cookies
To make things even more fun, I created a delicious healthy treat recipe that’s human AND dog friendly.
Every dog deserves a treat on their birthday and I always try to do something special for her each year. Even if she has no idea what’s going on, I feel good knowing that I am showing my love for her on the day she came into the world. 🙂
November also happens to be National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month, so the stars seemed to have aligned for me to share this Healthy Vegan Peanut Butter Cookie recipe. Peanut butter just happens to be Ella and I’s favorite food. 😉
These Peanut Butter Cookie Dog Treats that are tasty enough (and safe!) for humans and dogs alike. They’re also gluten-free and have no added sugar as well! The perfect treat to serve at your watch party for The Pack.
Healthy Vegan Peanut Butter Cookies
- Prep Time: 10 mins
- Cook Time: 15 mins
- Total Time: 25 mins
- Yield: 8-10 cookies 1x
- Category: Sweet Snacks
Ingredients
1 cup pitted Medjool dates (about 10–12 dates)
1/2 cup hot water
½ cup oat flour (about 58 grams)
¼ cup natural peanut butter
2 tbsp peanut flour
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Let eIn a food processor, combine dates and water. Puree until smooth. Then add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth (dough will be sticky). Using a tablespoon, drop dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet until dough is used up then press each cookie down with the prongs of a fork. Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove baking sheet from the oven and let cookies cool COMPLETELY before handling and storing them.
Soft baked, vegan, and gluten-free. The sweetness of the dates pairs perfectly with the nuttiness of the peanut butter and makes for a DELICIOUS cookie for both you and your pup!
I seriously can’t get enough of these. Yes, they’re meant for Ella…but honestly, I think I’ve eaten more of them than her. I like them straight out of the fridge where they get this amazingly dense, fudgy texture. So good!
Ella loves them too! Though she’s not very picky. I think the only thing that would make her go even more crazy for them is if I added carrots…she ADORES carrots! I can’t bring them out in the kitchen without her going crazy.
Hmm maybe my next dog treat creation will involve carrots and peanut butter? I do love that combo myself! Oops, there I go again making dog treats that I want to devour. 😉

love these! my pup is 14 years old =) she is my first baby for sure!
Same here!! I love her SO much.
We love our dog; they also love peanut butter. One of our dogs will eat anything, but most of our dogs won’t eat vegetables. 😀 Ella sounds like a huge blessing. I’m so thankful that God mercifully put so many beautiful animals into this world.
Thanks so much Em!! Let me know if you or your dogs try these!!
I will pass this along to all my dog owner friends 🙂
Thanks Kimberly!!
I always told myself I’d make treats for my dog for her birthday. She’ll be 7 this year, and we’ve had her since she was a puppy. So I should probably do that!
