Chocolate peanut butter bites with the creamy, richness of a truffle and the wholesomeness of a healthy homemade treat. Filled with healthy fats, whole grains, and natural sugars, these Reese’s Bites will be your new favorite way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Vegan, gluten-free, and absolutely delicious!
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner and all these healthy, plant-based foods available at grocery stores now, I thought it would be fun to make a vegan treat that everyone will enjoy for the holiday of LOVE. And what says “I love you!” more than rich, chocolatey truffles?! I can’t think of anything better!
One thing I love making that’s naturally plant-based and vegan are raw bites or “truffles”. They’re a mix of nuts or seeds, nut butter, cocoa powder, dates, and whatever other superfoods I have on hand to throw into the mix. Last year around this time, I made Raw Vegan Red Velvet Truffles and this year I am continuing the chocolate trend with Healthy REESE’S Bites!
Chocolate and peanut butter lovers will REJOICE at first bite of these babies! So rich, sweet, and perfectly balanced between peanut butter deliciousness and bold dark chocolate flavor. I even included some substitutions in the recipe if you’re peanut-free or grain-free.
Healthy Vegan Reese’s Bites
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 15 bites 1x
Ingredients
10 oz medjool dates, chopped
¾ cup natural peanut butter (only ingredient should be peanuts, I like Crazy Richard’s brand)
2 tbsp dark cocoa powder
¼ cup sugar-free vegan chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life or Lily’s)
2 tbsp chia seeds
½ cup unsalted dry-roasted peanuts
¼ cup gluten-free quick oats
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a food processor until no big chunks of nuts or dates are left. Place mixture into a large bowl and roll into balls (about 1 inch in size) until the entire bowl is used up. Store in the fridge.
Notes
If you have a peanut allergy: swap out peanut butter for almond butter and peanuts for mixed nuts or almonds.
If you are grain-free: swap out oats for 2 tbsp of coconut flour.
Keywords: snack, dessert, chocolate, peanut butter, vegan, gluten-free, no added sugar
All of these simple, plant-based, WHOLE FOOD ingredients can be found at your local grocery store, which makes this treat even more of a no-brainer.
You don’t have to be fully vegan or plant-based in order to include some animal-free products in your diet. In fact, doing so will provide you with numerous health benefits, lower your grocery costs, AND decrease your ecological footprint as well since vegan food is more environmentally friendly and sustainable. You don’t have to go to extremes of one diet to another to make big changes in your personal health as well as the environment around you. Small swaps like eating a vegan meal a few times a week or swapping in some vegan products for your usual products can go a long way in helping you reach your wellness goals.
