One thing I love making that’s naturally plant-based and vegan are raw bites or “truffles”. They’re a mix of nuts or seeds, nut butter, cocoa powder, dates, and whatever other superfoods I have on hand to throw into the mix. My latest creation?
Healthy Vegan Reese’s Bites
Chocolate and peanut butter lovers will REJOICE at first bite of these babies! So rich, sweet, and perfectly balanced between peanut butter deliciousness and bold dark chocolate flavor. Gluten-free, grain-free, and no added sugar!

Ingredients
12 medjool dates, (about 153 grams) chopped
1/2 cup peanut powder (~35 grams)
2 tbsp dark cocoa powder
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (~70 grams)
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a food processor until no big chunks of nuts or dates are left. Place mixture into a large bowl and roll into balls (about 1 inch in size) until the entire bowl is used up. Store in the fridge.

All of these simple, plant-based, WHOLE FOOD ingredients can be found at your local grocery store, which makes this treat even more of a no-brainer.
You don’t have to be fully vegan or plant-based in order to include some animal-free products in your diet. In fact, doing so will provide you with numerous health benefits, lower your grocery costs, AND decrease your ecological footprint as well since vegan food is more environmentally friendly and sustainable. You don’t have to go to the extremes of one diet to another to make big changes in your personal health as well as the environment around you. Small swaps like eating a vegan meal a few times a week or swapping in some vegan products for your usual products can go a long way in helping you reach your wellness goals.
