Some foods were ‘perfectly designed’. What I mean is that they LOOK like the parts of your body that they benefit. It’s not a coincidence that almonds resemble our eyes AND are good for our vision. Same goes for walnuts and our brain, ginger root and the stomach, and a host of other peculiar looking foods that look like the area of the body where they do their jobs.
Today I am sharing 7 Perfectly Designed Foods. Mother Nature had big plans for these superfoods when she decided to include them on Earth! 😉
Walnuts | Brain
Walnuts have always been known as BRAIN FOOD, and not just because they look like the cerebral organ! They’re high in omega-3 fatty acids, healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats…both of which boost brain function. Our brains are mostly made of fats anyways, so it’s crucial that we EAT fat to bolster our brain’s power. Walnuts are also known to help ward off atrophy in the brain of elderly people and possibly prevent dementia. Their many nutrients, phytochemicals, and vitamins encourage the growth of new brain cells and facilitate messaging links in this important part of the body.

Avocado | Uterus
Oval-shaped of avocados resemble the structure of a woman’s uterus and they also aid reproductive health. Avocados are rich in folic acid, which contains folate, and has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer in the reproductive organs. Eating at least one avocado a week helps with hormone regulation, helps women maintain a normal weight, and reduces the risk of cervical diseases. Just like a baby, an avocado takes 9 months to grow from seed to fully formed fruit! How cool is that!?

Beans | Kidneys
Kidney beans get their name because of their resemblance to the human kidney! Believe it or not, they actually help maintain kidney function too. They have been used since ancient times to reduce the pain caused by kidney stones and also contain many of the nutritional properties that lead to good kidney health. For example, they are high in soluble and insoluble fiber for regulating blood sugar, low in fat, and high in protein. Deficiencies in magnesium and potassium can lead to kidney stones to begin with, and kidney beans happen to be rich in both of these essential nutrients.
Orange | Breasts
Oranges look like the spindly mammary glands that make up the breasts. They bolster breast health by facilitating the movement of lymph nodes in and out of the breasts. Citrus fruits contain chemicals called limonoids which reduce the production of cancerous cells in human and animal breast tissue. Studies have shown that due to the high amounts of β-cryptoxanthin (carotenoid), β-carotene, folate, vitamin C, and Quercetin (flavonoid) found in oranges, increased intake of them can decrease breast cancer risk. In further evidence of this, places in the world that consume the most citrus fruits also have the lowest incidence of breast cancer.

Ginger | Stomach
Did your mom every give you Ginger Ale for indigestion? Ginger candies for a sour stomach? Well it turns out she was on to something! Ginger root’s twisted odd shape looks just like the stomach and also has incredible digestion aiding properties. It’s been used in eastern cultures for thousands of years to calm stomach troubles, ease nausea, and lessen discomfort triggered by motion. The herb not only LOOKS like the important digestive organ, but it’s pretty beneficial for it too! Gingerol is the phytochemical in ginger root that boosts its stomach-healing powers.

Wine | Blood
Where my wine lovers at?! 🙂 Red wine specifically is high in antioxidants and polyphenols, including resveratrol. Of course wine resembles blood but it also helps protect the blood (and the heart for that matter!) from harmful substances like LDL cholesterol. It also acts as a blood thinner which can reduce the risk of stroke and heart attacks by lessening the chance of blood clot formation.
Bananas | Smile (mood)
Not only do they LOOK like a smile (and they’re taste will make you smile!), but bananas can actually help lift your spirits! They contain a hormone called tryptophan and when it is digested in the body it converts to serotonin. If you’re unfamiliar with serotonin, it’s known as the FEEL GOOD chemical. Helpful for mood-regulation, many anti-depressant drugs are used to boost the manufacturing of it by the body. Do it naturally with bananas!
