Finish this sentence: You know you’re an HLB when…

Technology is your lover and simultaneously your worst enemy <<< YES! And my Instagram feed is always making me hungry. So much food. I love this list.
Thanks Kaylin!
I know some of these are tongue-in-cheek (or at least I hope they are!), but how do you balance being a HLB while also trying to inspire people to let go of food & exercise myths/fads? I understand that the blog is your “business” and that sometimes you make things gf/low-fat/paleo etc. as marketing, but it somehow seems to contradict your personal philosophy that all food is OK. I guess I’m just wondering if maybe you could do one blog as the professional Healthy Helper brand and another as your person journey? It might help with some of the things that seem contradictory on your blog and instagram. Some of the points you made above (again, I know this is just meant to be funny) are eerily similar to having an eating disorder/exercise addiction.
I’m just saying this mostly out of concern and to point out just how blurry the lines can be between HLBs and EDs.
I was thinking much the same thing. There’s a fine line in this post between healthy living blogger and disordered eater.
So true. So, so true.
Thank you!
hahahaha, planning my day around light availability is definitely a thing. 😛 (As are most of the rest of these.) WE ARE AWESOME. <3
P.S. I actually originally got an instagram because I wanted to stalk food accounts. :O
Hehe…I can relate! The pretty food pics are what drew me in to!
Haha I love this! I can tell I’m a blogger because I’m always making sure my running outfits match – they’re about to go on Instagram!
Haha! Yes! Must be ‘gram ready at all times! 🙂
Yep, I can agree with many of these! Especially the nut butter. But wait, what happened when you made homemade nut milk? I didn’t find it hard!
I can relate to almost every single one! Especially planning my day around good lighting or even my week based on which days will have the best sun for recipes! I would add that my long abandoned pretty white wedding china finally has a purpose! And also having to identify the produce of the day to the cashier so they know what to ring it up as!
YESSSS! The produce thing!! I think I know the codes better than the workers!
hahaha These made me LOL…SO relatable! Especially never eating warm food…photos first!
Isn’t that the worst!? I always have to use the microwave! That is if I am not already starving! LOL
Haha some of these are too funny because I can totally relate!!! Gotta love those long runs when you start thinking of recipe ideas and trying to type it into phone so you don’t forget by the time you’re done with your run! Oy vey!
Yes! The struggle! I have to keep repeating my ideas to myself so I don’t forget! Haha!
Yes, yes and yes! 🙂 Funny stuff!
Haha! Thanks Ashley!!
You nailed it! Seriously spot on. Oh I am laughing at myself and all of us because these are so true. But I do have to wonder what happened with the homemade nut milk??
Oh boy. I am not sure if that disaster is ready for public sharing! HAHAHA!
… Your friends are OK being your recipe guinea pigs!
What a fun and accurate list 🙂
YES YES YES!! Good one!
Lol! So much truth.
Haha glad you liked it!
I can TOTALLY relate to so many of these. 😀 I don’t quite own all the bowls yet, but the workout time being time to plan potential blog post titles and recipes? Yep! 😀
Hehe! I’m glad you could relate!
HA HA HA These are great! I sadly have not had a warm meal in years. 😉
Thanks Mo! Glad you found them funny! 🙂
Yes, I agree with so many of these! Although I’m just now narrowing down into this field after being general parent/lifestyle for forever. So true about the avocado though! And I’m still waiting to get that darn spiralizer! And yes, most of the pics in my instagram feed are food.
Haha! I am glad you could relate! So many of these apply to many blogger niches!
I’m a lifestyle blogger so the healthy eating ones aren’t really my thing but I could totally relate to all the blogging ones – buying things you don’t need to use as props, the list of ideas in my phone etc.
Reading this, your passion for your subject is obvious, I think that’s brilliant! #brillblogposts
Debbie
Wow. I think that is one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. I am so happy that my passion shines through in my work! 🙂
Yes to ALL of these. And also: eating a slight variation of the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because you were recipe testing and your freezer can’t hold any more of your experiments.
100% yes!! How did I forget that!? My freezer is PACKED with all sorts of bags of goodies I am still making my way through. It’s simultaneously a good and bad problem to have. 😉
So true! My grocery store always asks me what I’m making this week :-))
YES! Totally get that question all the time!
Haha, this was too funny! Pumpkin season should never end and every kitchen cabinet should have abundant supplies of PB 🙂
100% agree!!!
hahahaha… YES! I am shaking my head to all of these as I’m reading them. I love that making and drinking a simple smoothie can take 30 minutes because you need to take the perfect picture.. ugh!
OMG I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to reblend my smoothies with ice to make them cold again! LOL
Oh, yes. I love dishes. I love shopping for baking/cooking items much more than for clothing! 🙂 And the mailman? That’s our UPS man. Haha
I feel like I know my mailman and UPS guy personally! 🙂
I’m just starting out and can relate to so many of these! Love the nut milk one. I had to make homemade almond milk for a very specific medical diet and it was totally brutal
Haha! I think I made it waaaaaay too complicated!
I can definitely relate to most of these! Going to Home Depot for tiles and planning my weekends around the best time of day to take photos (here in Minneapolis that is a small window these days).
Same here in Buffalo! The lighting has been TERRIBLE!! Can’t wait for summer again!
You get excited when your favorite vegetable or fruit is back in season – zucchini at the farmer’s market.
You get excited when your favorite vegetable or fruit is back in season – yep
Technology is your lover and simultaneously your worst enemy – fo sho
You see brown bananas not as a bad thing a bad thing but as a baking opportunity – purposely wait for the bananas to get mushy to use in my banana bread
You spend your days writing, researching, and LIVING your passions – instead of doing my day job :/
Haha glad you could relate!
I laughed when i read the one about coding and eye twitches. So true, so sture! Visiting from BCI Link Party
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
I Love this! Thanks for sharing at the #letsgetrealparty!

Great list! My favorite item on your list: spending your days writing, researching and living your passions.
That’s my favorite too. 🙂
Hilarious! I am not a HLB, but I am a blogger and can totally relate to most of those.
I think a lot of these are totally universal in the blogging world! Glad you got a laugh. 🙂
Hi Kaila – this post inspired my latest blog post on the professional mom project. I hope you don’t mind that I mention you! You know you’re the mom of a four year old boy when… http://wp.me/p70Jzn-4m

So welcome!
LOL had to laugh about not eating warm food in years due to taking photos 🙂 Thanks for sharing this with us at Savoring Saturdys linky party!
It’s so true though! LOL
You penned the post that many of us have probably thought about but never took the time to compose! So thank you! Reading this was like participating in a therapy session. Blogging life is so crazy that sometimes I probably need therapy.
My family and friends never understand why I am photographing my meals instead of eating like the rest of them! Only other healthy living bloggers really get us! I really loved: “Your bowls of oatmeal come with a minimum of ten toppings” &”You spend your days writing, researching, and LIVING your passions”. YES! Thanks for representing!!
I am so glad you liked this post! It’s nice knowing so many people can relate to these blogging woes! 😉
