Doesn’t it seem like it’s been forever since I did a WIAW? Well it has been! I’ve been skipping them in favor of recipe posts or some deeper discussions. I have SO MANY recipes back logged that I am trying to get them out to you in a timely manner. Lots of deliciousness coming your way! It’s definitely a good problem to have. 😉
Today I have some updates, some recent packages to share, and tons of good food, of course! Let’s get right into it.
Over the years I’ve always been jealous of bloggers getting the infamous Love Drops from Love Grown Foods. Well, it was finally my turn! I saw that they recently released some no added sugar products and I jumped at the chance to try them for myself.
I was sent their new Original Power O’s, a single serve packet of their Original Super Oats, and a bag of their Nuts & Seeds Super Oats! The Original Power O’s are delicious! I can’t even imagine the other varieties needing added sweetener because these are perfectly sweet and flavorful on their own. They have a great nutty, beany taste and are dense so they stay crunchy in milk. The Super Oats are so FILLING. I love that they have lots of superfoods added to them like chia, quinoa, flax, and walnuts. They cook up nice and thick and have lots of great texture as well. Needless to say, I am now in LOVE with Love Grown. 🙂
Another change with me? I am now a coffee person! I tried some coffee on a whim before a workout a few weeks ago and was AMAZED at how awesome it made me feel. Who knew a little caffeine could make that big of a difference? Especially for someone who usually doesn’t react to caffeine. So lately, I’ve been drinking a cup in the morning with breakfast (always cold) and another cup mid-day before I head to school. It’s a great energy booster and I really enjoy the taste too. It’s become a fun little ritual! Luckily, I got some of my own Cold Brew Coffee from Grady’s Cold Brew recently, so I can stop mooching the burnt leftovers of my parent’s morning pot. 😉
I much prefer cold brew coffee to regular and since I a only one person, these single serve bean bags from Grady’s are perfect! They have a really unique taste since they contain a combination of coffee, chicory and spices. All you have to do is soak overnight in water and discard the bag the next day! Easy peasy and much better than dragging out a whole coffee maker just for one or two cups! So far I’ve been enjoying my cups with a little bit of stevia and sometimes with some cashew or almond milk depending on how I’m feeling. I’d love some suggestions on how YOU enjoy your cup of joe!
To go along with my new-found coffee love, I’ve also been delving into the world of STEVIA. A little late to the game, eh? Well I expressed my thoughts about stevia in the past, but since then I’ve been trying to loosen up my ‘food rules‘ and that includes branching out with different sweeteners.
Sweet Drops makes 20 flavors of liquid stevia and they sent me some sampler bottles to try out. I haven’t made my way through them all quite yet, but I’ve tried all the ones that would go well with coffee like peppermint, hazelnut, english toffee, chocolate, and chocolate raspberry! So far I am really impressed. They all taste just like the flavors they are labeled as and I like that there is no bitter aftertaste. Also, the stevia is very potent (at least for me) so I only need a really little bit to flavor my coffee. They are made only from pure stevia and natural flavors. Can’t wait to do some baking experiments with the other flavors!
