[Did you miss my weekend post? Check it out! Some simple things that we all need to be reminded of sometimes.]
Happy Monday! Time to get a little techy up in here!
But before I get into that I want to make an announcement…
Due to the lack of submissions for my Lend a {Healthy} Hand Design a Button Contest, I’ve decided to just hold a regular ol’ giveaway for the goodies from Expo East that were up for grabs!
So enter below for your chance to win over 100 products from the natural foods industry! There will be TWO winners since there is SO MUCH stuff to share!
Now onto that tech stuff I promised…
Doesn’t it seem like as soon as you get the newest and latest technology, a new version comes out and you’re left in the dark ages again? Take the iPhone 6 coming out in October! I feel like I JUST got the 5s, and now there’s going to be a new one out on the market! Oh well, I’m sure by the time I am ready for an update, there will be a whole other generation out there!
That’s exactly how I feel about apps too! There’s always something new and different coming out…and frankly I just can’t keep up! It’s probably why I never got hooked on the whole Candy Crush bandwagon (though I’m not too upset about that one!) or Words with Friends.
Even though I might not know the most popular new apps as they come out, I still am an avid app user for fun, business, and organizational reasons. So today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite apps with you all! They are used for a variety of purposes and even though they might now be ‘new’, they sure are handy and I use them often!
Rhona Design App
Rhonna is an awesome photo editing app that you can edit your photos on, add text, add graphics, and easily upload them to social media sites for sharing. Not only that, but you can make your own pictures! Whether you want to feature a quote, a saying, or ask a questions to your followers using cool graphics, Rhonna is the easiest way to do it! You get a ton of amazing options and designs to choose from….and the best part? It’s free!
Here are some examples of what I’ve created using Rhonna…
FitBit
If you have a FitBit, then this app is a must! (if not, skip to the next one 🙂 ) It’s so handy to have on your phone so that you can see your data from all time as opposed to just the day’s numbers on your band. Plus it’s an awesome way to connect with other FitBit users and to check the battery life of your band. It also sends out convenient reminders and updates throughout the day to let you know how close or how much you have left to go before you meet your step goal! It even congratulates you when you go over! Such a fun little pick me up during the day.
Instacast
My favorite way to listen to podcasts! Instead of downloading them straight from iTunes, I manage all my subscriptions from this awesome app. It’s easy to add new subscriptions and delete ones you’re no longer interested plus, it automatically downloads new episodes without you having to refresh or keep track of what’s been updated. I also love the ‘up next’ feature. You can add various podcasts episodes to your ‘up next’ list and they will automatically play in that order after the one you’re listening to ends!
A Beautiful Mess
Another photo editing app that I love! This one is great for making collages and adding cool borders and fun graphics to pictures! It’s especially useful when taking pictures off the web or from my blog where they are often not the right size for Instagram. I also love the cool fonts and text options this app has. There are a lot of photo editing apps out there, but this one has the most options that appeal to my tastes for sure!
Easy Shift
I’ve talked about my favorite money making apps before, but this is a new one I’ve recently discovered and taken a liking to! Easy Shift alerts you of ‘jobs’ in your area, usually of the ‘secret shopper’ variety, that require you to go to a specific place of business and take pictures/answer questions about certain products in the store. It’s really easy and transparent and it’s great for if you have some free time and want to make some extra cash! They pay via paypal and you get your money almost immediately after completing a job! Love that fast return.
Now, I want some suggestions from all of you!
Tell me your favorite apps! I want to be introduced to all the good stuff I’m missing out there!
What is your most used app?
Have you found any cool new apps to download lately?

I followed you on Instagram and Pinterest. As for something nice that I’ve done for someone, I let my husband sleep in this morning on his day off and I took care of the baby (he usually does it in the mornings)
Thanks for sharing Meredith!
What are some of your other fave money making apps? (Living in Boston is not easy, ha!)
I REALLY love Field Agent! Shopkick is also great for racking up points that can be used to get prizes like giftcards! Gigwalk is another good one!
I feel soooooo old and out of the loop, as I don’t even have a smart phone. I have a Samsung media player thing that pretty much acts like one, but I don’t even use it that much except to play Angry Birds, haha.
I’m going to check out that Rhona Design app! I am all about the apps! I like Interval Timer app for when I work out, Timehop to show me a status I had a year or more ago, and Groupon because I like discounts 😛
I think I’ll download that instacast. I listen to podcasts on nutrition and fitness a lot! Also, is this giveaway open to Canadians?
Yes! Open worldwide! 🙂
I haven’t heard of any of these! Thank you! Easy Shift sounds like a neat idea- I love making money, haha 😉
Me too! 🙂 And it’s so easy with that app!
Ohh I need to check out Easy Shift! Thanks for sharing!
My boyfriend and I were driving on to the naval academy yard about 3/4-1 mile away from the dorms and saw a guy with a duffle, a backpack, a broken WF bag, and 3 hangers of uniforms cutting across the field so we waiting inside the gate and gave him a ride!
That’s awesome Paige! So nice of you!
Maybe I’m one of the few people out there with only a handful of downloaded apps aside from the pre-installed ones. But I’m still wary of the fact my last phone ‘died’ possibly from app overload. That would have been three or four (yes!) apps because the storage space was about, oh well, 500 MB?! Craziness. Now that I -do- have more space I might just download a few more and you listed some interesting picks.
My healthy help is very random but I complimented a stranger at the gym. I’m not sure if this counts but personally, ann unexpected nice comment can really make my day.
Thanks for sharing the apps!
For my healthy help I bought my parents dinner:)

My helping hand is an ongoing cart collection at church. Our church is always collecting items for different groups. Each week there are donation ideas posted online and in our service tri-fold. My girls and I enjoy shopping from the list and picking out an item to purchase and donate. The shopping cart is where we leave our donated items.

This is the third post I have read about the Rhona app and now I feel like I MUST get it. There were a few I had not heard of and will probably have to clear some space from my phone. This weekend I’m organizing our monthly girls night out event – planning and preparing our drinks. We all look forward to our time together.
Rhona is awesome!! You’ll love it!
It’s no longer a free app! darn
Seriously! I had no idea! That must have just changed! It was free when I downloaded it. 🙁
I hear you! I have the iPhone 5 and feel like I’m being left behind, but I can get my work done on it and take great pics. Although I’m a total apple fangirl I dislike the pressure each September to get the newest and shiniest device.
Good selection of apps, I have the FitBit app, great for competitive people! Another nice photo app you might like is Little Moments, it’s a really nice photo editor and has daily prompts for the #fmsphotoaday challenge.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check out Little Moments!
Great apps. Thanks for sharing!
