Deliciously fudgy, vegan brownies will be your new favorite sweet treat! These Double Chocolate Brownies are so rich and chocolatey that you’d never guess they were HEALTHY! Gluten-free, no sugar added, and SO drool-worthy.
Brownies are probably one of my favorite desserts. I am not much of a cake person. But give me a dense, delicious, fudgy brownie and I am in heaven!
And being a total chocolate lover as well, brownie just seem like the perfect sweet treat to me. More than cake or cookies or even ice cream. And brownies just scream summer BBQ season to me! Just like you’ll always find some sort of mac n’ cheese at a cookout, there’s usually some sort of brownies for dessert. They are a staple of summer. At least in my life!
Luckily, I always have some healthy baking ingredients on hand when a craving strikes. Including my favorite food for naturally sweetening my baked goods…Medjool dates!
Why bake with dates?
If you’ve never tried dates or think you don’t like them, try these. They literally taste like CANDY. Nature’s caramel. So sweet, soft, and satisfying. I love them with nut butter, in yogurt bowls, or just straight out of the container. Plus you can’t beat the nutrients they provide!
Medjool dates pack 50% more potassium by weight than bananas, loads of dietary fiber, and of course that sweet sweet taste we all love without any added sugar!
Vegan Double Chocolate Brownies
Of course, these delicious Double Chocolate Brownies are only sweetened with medjool dates, making them no sugar added as well!

Spread brownie mixture in prepared baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool on a wire rack, slice, and serve with banana ice cream for a fully vegan dessert!

- SO easy to make
Just puree your dates, mix together your dry ingredients, and bake for 20 minutes. You’ll be on your way to brownie heaven in no time!
I can’t tell you how perfect the texture of these brownies are. So soft and fluffy. Not to mention FILLED with chocolate flavor from the cocoa powder and additional chocolate chips. Each bites is filled with little pieces of chocolate goodness!
If you bring these to your next BBQ or summer potluck, they’ll certainly be the HIT of the party! People won’t believe how simple these brownies are and how healthy they are despite tasting so decadent.

Yum!! I am a total brownie lover and these look fantastic!! 🙂
Thanks so much Tara!! These are SO good.
Hmmm… it depends on my mood. Sometimes I love a handheld dessert like a delicious chocolatey brownie or a cookie and sometimes a slice of cake with ice cream sounds really good! Lately with all the heat, ice cream has sounded the best!
Yes depends what I am in the mood for too! It always changes, but I NEVER turn down dessert! LOL
I have to admit, I like a really fudgy brownie, Im just not a cake fan. But my grandma prefers a cake brownie and loves dates so this would be perfect for her! I love how natural and light these are. Great recipe.
I love both a fudgy brownie and a cakey brownie! I don’t discriminate!! LOL
This looks so yummy!! Now to get someone to make it for me!!

[…] DATE-SWEETENED DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES […]
Oh these look amazing! I have been refined sugar free for the whole year so far and plan to continue. I’d probably just use cacao nibs in place of the chocolate chips. So pleased to see this great recipe #brillblogposts

So happy you loved them!!
I must say that after reading through sixteen comments from people who didn’t even make the recipe, I feel like I’ve had my time wasted. However, I would like to comment that I did make the recipe and it is very good. I doubled all the ingredients but used the same size pan, which made it more thick and cakey. I didn’t have any chocolate chips, so I substituted two tablespoons sugar + two tablespoons coconut oil. It came out light and cakey, and very sweet and chocolaty. It was a much darker brown than in the photos. Maybe there’s something wrong with the lighting in the photos.
Glad you enjoyed this recipe!! 🙂
