A roundup of my GO-TO flavor enhancing ingredients to spice up your daily meals! No need to eat boring food when you have these staples in your kitchen to jazz up plain tasting dishes.
One of the most asked questions I get is “how do you make your sautéed lunch salads?”. I always answer the same way! They’re literally just a mix of sautéed veggies, protein, an egg, and some sort of seasoning and sauce all sautéed together and put on top of greens. Easy peasy. So simple and straight forward! There’s no real recipe and that’s why I’ve never posted one for them.
I really just throw whatever ingredients I have in the house together depending on what I am craving that day. The key, I will say though, are the flavor enhancers I add. They MAKE the salad! I have several go-tos that I add either on their own or in combinations that give me salads (and all my meals) so much flavor and taste.
Today I am spilling the beans! I am sharing my kitchen secrets. My go-t0 flavor enhancers that have a forever spot in my kitchen cabinet. I wonder how they compare to yours!
For when you want a cheesy salty taste! Add it to pasta, pizza, or sprinkle on baked french fries!
Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning
Literally tastes like an everything bagel! Amazing on roasted veggies, stirred into yogurt as a dip, or sprinkled on avocado.
Basically great on everything. I love sautéing it into my veggies salads or using it as a topping!
Soy sauce’s better, more tasty cousin! I love this stuff. All the saltiness and umami flavor you could want in a sauce. Great for stir-frys!
My favorite kind of mustard. It’s so savory and SPICY!! Gotta love horseradish. I use it for mixing into my seafood salads!
Another great salty, spicy addition to salads. They add amazing flavor and slight crunch! Best if sautéed into the veggies you’re topping your salad with.
My favorite brand is Westbrae Naturals Unsweetened Ketchup! Tastes like regular ketchup but is only sweetened with tomatoes (which are naturally sweet…duh!) and fruit. What doesn’t ketchup go with?!
Gives anything that smokey flavor that only a BBQ can give! So yummy and such a unique ingredient. I love sautéing veggies in it or mixing it into dips!
Another great addition to stir-frys! I love mixing it with peanut butter, water, and liquid aminos to make a Thai peanut sauce. GREAT with salmon!
Trader Joe’s 21 Salute Seasoning
This is my go-to seasoning for protein! It’s got a great mix of every spice and herb you can imagine. Think of it as a classy upgrade to Mrs. Dash! 😉

These are great tips and very interesting choices!
Thanks Sandra!
I love sweet foods, but sometimes I love herby savory dishes too. We love to use herbs for flavor enhancing, soy sauce, garlic, and I like to enhance sweet dishes with PB or honey.
I love cooking with garlic too! Makes everything delicious.
These sorts of sauces and toppings are perfect for me because I honestly can’t be bothered with learning how to cook flavorful savory food so condiments all the way haha 😀 Also I just learned that unsweetened ketchup exists…omg!
Unsweetened ketchup is a SERIOUS game changer!! You HAVE to try it.
Great ideas, some definitely new and interesting!
Thanks Abbie!
My favorite is Pappy’s Choice low sodium seasoning. I don’t go to Trader Joe’s much because ours is in a nightmare of a parking lot, but I always enjoy their products
Thanks for sharing on #FridayFrivolity

So are you just going to straight-up steal that photo without giving us credit? Not cool.
