A savory breakfast bread sensation! This unique loaf is paleo, gluten-free, and full of amazing ingredients. Made with starchy green banana flour, this is a breakfast that will satisfy your taste buds and keep you going all day long!
BOY, do I have a fun post for you today, friends!! In fact, it’s my FIRST EVER video collaboration with my blogger friend, Gigi!
You might know her from the famous YouTube channel, Gigi Eats Celebrities, but I know her as my blogging buddy who is JUST as obsessed with seafood as I am. But we’re not talking about seafood today….no, far from it. We’re talking about a unique ingredient that both of us had on hand but were totally stumped on what to make with it.
Have you heard of it/had it?
Well I personally had not, and when Gigi approached me about coming up with a Gigi-approved recipe using it, I couldn’t turn down a challenge. I love getting creative in the kitchen, but given Gigi’s dietary needs (no sugar, gluten/grains, dairy, fruit, soy, or nuts…I think that’s it, right Gi?) I knew I had a big project in front of me. Luckily, I SCORED on the first try and came up with an awesome paleo breakfast bread recipe that’s totally savory and delicious.
I call it Savory Banana Flour Breakfast Bread. Now just because banana is in the title does not make this a sweet bread. It’s totally on the savory end and has tons of interesting flavors from the spices and the salsa. I would actually love to play around with adding some more veggies to it!
Since it’s made with eggs, you’re getting protein, good carbs from the banana flour, and healthy fats from the use of coconut products. A totally well-rounded meal if you have a slice or two for breaky!

That is so cool that you and Gigi did this recipe in collaboration; you really had to get super creative Kaila; I love that you were up for the challenge.
Thanks Em!! It was quite the challenge but SUPER fun!!
This banana bread looks so tasty! 🙂
Thanks Pamela!! Let me know if you try it!!
I had no idea there was such thing as banana flour. Is the taste of banana strong?
Katie
No not at all!! It’s very mild and not sweet. Perfect for savory recipes!!
I LOVE that I can see SALSA in your bread!! Mine didn’t come out that way – Probably because I used a blender to mix everything together, cause my arm was lazy LOL!
I am so thrilled with this bread and thankful that you took time out of your busy life to make a recipe I can devour!!! <3 I cannot wait for us to put our heads together on another one!
Me either, girl!! Another collab is DEFINITELY in the near future!! This was so flipping fun. 😀
I need to try that four! I love savory breads like this!
It’s so unique and fun to bake with!
Very neat! I have heard of banana flour, but still haven’t used it, or eaten it. That’s quite a challenge with all those dietary restrictions! Good work making something on your first try!
It was definitely a challenge but a fun one for sure!!
You put salsa in bread–WHOA. Never would’ve dreamt of this but it sounds SO flavor-packed. I am loving banana flour more and more by the day! And what a fun collab too 🙂
Thanks girl!! Can’t wait to see what YOU made with yours!! 😀

Thanks Helen!
Thanks for the recipe. Eventhough bananas grow here in Queensland, banana flour is $15 for 500grams (2 cups).
Oh no!! That is super expensive!! Maybe try to find it online??
[…] very satisfying. Well, my version is made with GREEN BANANA FLOUR! You’ve seen it used in my Savory Banana Flour Breakfast Bread, but I’ll remind you about what makes it a nutritional […]
[…] I made a GIGI APPROVED RECIPE! […]
You can dehydrate green banana yourself and put it in a food processor and viola! green banana flour. I have to find out what the difference is between green banana and plantain, but I bought 3 large plantains for 75 cents and I now have a cup and a half of flour. Happy baking!
I made this and the center would not get done, outside looked great but after 60 minutes still totally wet inside put back in over for another 1/2 hour and the same. The crusty outside tastes great. But what have I done wrong?? I have used green banana flour a few times now with various recipes and most of them have not baked 100% on the inside. I have made cookies with the flour and they are great. Any advice appreciated.
I am not sure, Nancy! Never had anyone else report an issue like this. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
