I know, I know. Most cliché , cheesy title ever! But it all make sense in a bit
First though I wanted to thank everyone for all the tweets and retweets and mentions over the past few days! I have been so close to 600 followers on Twitter for awhile now and I think this is the weekend I will finally make it there! So get ready for a really fun (and delicious!) giveaway tomorrow in appreciation for all of your support!
Like I said yesterday I wanted to share a few things I am hoping to do or get accomplished this Summer. You all know I love my lists! They not only hold me accountable but they make sure I don’t forget things either!
Its my last Summer before college…so I definitely want to make it memorable! There are some things I have to get done of course…but plenty of things I want to do too! Ya gotta mix a little work with some fun
Summer Plans 2012
day trip to Toronto
cross off some things on my 101 in 1001 list
go on a mini vacation somewhere I have never been before
start horseback riding again
run a race
take a road trip by myself
go fruit picking (funny how this always ends up on my lists )
create one new recipe each week
get a job and make some money
buy all my dorm furniture and appliances
switch my blog to self hosting
buy a new bike
save money for plane tickets to ExpoEast
Just a short list for now (and I am sure I will be adding more), but I just wanted to get a few things down to look forward to and to start planning for. T minus 2 months until FREEEEEDOM!
And now to explain the “raw” reference in my title…
Go Raw sent me a HUGE sampling of their products a few weeks ago and I have finally made my way through trying them all. It was such a hard task devouring sampling all their delicious products!
Here are the goods, along with a little background information about the company:
“Freeland Foods is a team of amazing individuals who are dedicated to revolutionizing the food industry. We are committed to perfecting our “process”.
It starts with the seeds – finding the best, local when available – testing and inspecting – soaking in filtered water – rinsing and cleaning – then sprouting for up to four hours.
The sprouts are then mixed with the highest quality raw, organic ingredients we can find. We hand spread the mixture onto trays and then load them into our custom built dehydrators where they’ll sit for up to
two days at an average temperature of 98 degrees.
The finished product is then packaged in house on our dedicated equipment then stored and shipped in our facility.”
I was sent a slew of their raw bars, crackers, cookies, chocolate, and sprouted flax seed!
The raw chocolate was so good! I didn’t know if I would like it or not…but it had such a rich flavor and was incredibly creamy as soon as it touched your tongue! Not overly sweet either, which I LOVED!!
The flax seed has been put to good use as well. I always see people adding it to oats, smoothies, baked goods, and the like but I never had it on hand to try it out! Well let me tell ya, it is a great addition! I love its slightly nutty flavor and you really can’t beat the amazing nutrition you get!
[spirulina, live granola, flax, pumpkin, and banana bread]
SO GOOD. I seriously loved every single flavor..but if I had to choose a favorite I would have to go with the Live Granola Bar flavor because it was amazingly crunchy and the texture was amazing from the combo of buckwheat and raisins. The Pumpkin bar was also crunchy and I loved all the nuts and seeds in it. The Spirulina, Banana bread, and Flax bars had more chewy consistencies but were equally as flavorful and unique as the crunchier ones!
[original, masala chai, carrot cake, lemon]
Just the right mix of crunch and chew with these ones! I was so surprised at how flavorful they were for having so few ingredients. Light sweetness is added from coconut and dried fruit and the cookies really did taste like the foods they were named for! I especially liked the lemon…which was amazingly tangy and refreshing. The Chai Masala was really unique as well…kind of like a sweet indian spiced delicacy!
OMG….I did not think that a raw food could ever taste JUST LIKE PIZZA! But Go Raw proved me wrong! Even my dad loved these things! Of course the other flavors were great too! The Spirulina ones had a slightly “green” flavor that just makes ya feel healthy while eating them! All were nice and crispy too…just how I like my crackers.
I was SO impressed with all these products. I am always a little weary of raw foods because they tend to rely heavily on nuts/seeds and coconut…but Go Raw (while still using these ingredients) makes great use of a wide variety of foods to make amazingly flavorful, healthy snacks and treats!
Thanks Go Raw!
