Since I’ve had this past week off, I have had a bit more time to watch TV then usual. Have any of you noticed how negative the media’s approach is towards people’s, especially women’s, bodies? It’s absolutely astonishing….every other commercial is for a weight loss product, a way to change yourself, or so-called ‘better’ your body. Honestly, whatever happened to embracing uniqueness, what we are born with, and individuality!
Now, I understand that some people for medical or personal reasons have to or want to lose weight, but why does the media have to cover these stories exclusively. How about mixing in some positive body image stories with all these weight loss expose’s. Less weight loss stories, more weight love stories.
Girls especially, from the time they are little, are constantly bombarded by standards that society sets for the way we should look and act.

In acknowledgement of NEDA week, I wanted to write a post about embracing your own body and loving it for everything it does for you each and everyday. Whether you’re big, small, wide, slim, tall, or short, whether you’re a little insecure , in love with who you are, or not yet comfortable in your own skin, your body is AMAZING! What it does to keep you living everyday is truly a miracle.
I think it’s time to show how much we care about our bodies. It’s time for some love letter’s to ourselves:
Dear Wonderfully Amazing body,
Thank you for waking me up every morning and allowing me to experience each and every new day.
Thank you for giving me strong legs to carry me from place to place, to run and play with my puppy, and to get me through tough workouts that get my endorphins flowing.
Thank you for giving me a good heart…both physically and figuratively. It not only pumps the blood I need to live, but it gives me the compassion and empathy I need everyday to treat people in the best way possible.
Thank you for fighting off sickness for me, from common colds to the flu.
Thank you for allowing me to build muscle, to keep my bones strong, and to become a better athlete.
Thank you for using the food I eat wisely….to cushion my bones when I fall, to give me energy to power through a run, to allow me to focus during hard exams, and to keep my insides working to the best of their ability.
Love ♥,
Kaila
I invite all of you to write your own love letter to yourself….we need a bit more lovin’ up in here and less flaw finding.
If you do end up writing your own love letter, please link back to this post. I would love to read all your posts and compile a list of all the letters sometime next week.
This week, and every week, celebrate the amazing things about your body. It will truly make you feel better and allow you to embrace those little things about yourself that may not be what you want them to be.
{PS} You can still submit your recipes for my No Sugar Added contest! Email me at proulxkr@roadrunner.com!
Amazing post Kaila, with a great message!
I like your new signature too 🙂
this is such a beautiful post.. honestly this is just amazing!
“Less weight loss stories, more weight love stories.”.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! thank you, Kaila!
great letter!
Awesome post, as always. I love the letter! I also think it’s so important that we love ourselves the way we are (insert Bruno Mars’s “Just the Way You Are” here). Our bodies do so much for us that it’s important that we fuel them properly rather than diet and restrict calories.
Also, I tagged you for the Versatile Blogger Award (not sure if you’ve received it yet) in my blog post, check it out! 😀
