Looking for a quick, healthy breakfast for on-go-eating? This Brain-Boosting Breakfast Trail Mix has all the nutrients you need to fuel up and feel energized for the day. Whole grains, healthy fats, protein, and even a bit of chocolate!
With school back in session, planning/prepping meals and snacks ahead of time is KEY for my time management. As much as I love cooking and preparing things in the moment, have a few things made ahead of time definitely helps when I’m pressed for time.
I need something quick, nutrient dense, energizing, and easy to eat on-the-go! Whether I’m going to a workout class or heading to a coffee shop to study/work for the afternoon, convenience is the name of the game.
With all these factors in mind, I’ve been brainstorming different options I can have on hand. Bars? Sure, but they don’t have all the nutrients I need. Nuts? Good fat source, but not complete. Dried fruit? Well, the carbs and sugars are there but not much else. What about cereal? Again, has some components I need, but not everything.
Brain-Boosting Breakfast Challenge
Then it hit me! TRAIL MIX. A combination of all the ingredients and nutrients I need in a packable, easy-to-eat form.
Being the cereal lover that I am, I decided to use Cheerios as the base my new breakfast trail mix (shoutout Buffalo…our city SMELLS like Cheerios!). The cereal provides my complex carbohydrates and with the addition of raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds for Omega-3’s and healthy fats, unsweetened dried blueberries for sweetness and antioxidants, and some dark chocolate covered coffee beans for an energy boost (and for fun! 😉 ), this trail-mix has all my bases covered.

This looks so good – those of you who don’t have nut/seed allergies are lucky! LOL If I took out everything I can’t eat in trail mix, I’d have dried blueberries and chocolate covered coffee beans. Which …. doesn’t sound horrible!
My silly food allergies aside, it looks like a delicious and healthy mixture!

Eeeeek!! I can’t believe your trip is so close! You better take tons of pictures! And snacks are super crucial, all that walking and exploring really does wear a person out. These new ones sound good, there are always Multi-Grain cheerios around my house 🙂
