And by “the” run I mean…..THE BEST RUN OF MY LIFE!
I set out for a run today….planning on making it my longest run ever (around 8.5 miles)….and came back having not only run farther and faster than I had planned….but I felt ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I didn’t even feel winded or tired at all. Like I hadn’t even run for an hour! Here are my stats:
8.83 mi 01:09 07:51 pace
I just felt so light and weightless….my legs didn’t hurt, I didn’t get out of breath, and I feel like I could have kept running for hours if it hadn’t started raining.
This run really meant a lot to me. It reassured me (finally!) that I am completely healed from my injury and it helped me prove to my self that I can run long distances! I am so motivated now that I am looking into signing up for a half marathon! So excited!
Since I’m talking about running anyways, I thought I would share with you all a little bit about me and my runs!
*I always listen to music when I run! I can’t wear the little head phones though so I have a little trick that I use. I take my Ipod touch, that has outer speakers, and stick it in my sports bra. This way I don’t have to hold it and I can listen to music all I want! Everyone I run by always looks at me funny when I come running by….there probably thinking two things to them selves ” where is that music coming from?” and “why’s that skinny white girl jammin’ out to such hardcore rap?!” Haha…what can I say. It’s just how I
*I always tend to favor my right side when I run. I actually think this is how I got injured in the first place! For some reason I catch myself leaning over to one side when I run and I have to physically tell my self to even out. I want to ask someone about this…any running technique guru’s out there!?!
*Some people say the thing they love about running is how it allows them to clear their minds escape from the rest of the world. But for me, running is when I think about all the things going on in my life. I really like that! It gives me time to think about things I put on the back burner during the day without distractions or other priorities. Today I thought a lot about college, decisions about my major, and how much I love running outside as opposed to the
*Do you ever get nervous before going on a run? For some reason I DO! It’s the weirdest thing! Whenever I am about to set out, I get butterflies in my stomach. I think it stems from the feelings I used to get when I was surrounded by pressures during cross country. I am really working on trying to stay calm and deep breathing when I get these feelings. I think that deep down inside I am afraid of not being able to complete the runs I set out to do and I put to much pressure on myself to run X amount of miles. Of course once I start running, all those pressures and feelings go away and I just run for my love of it. But I still want to work on eliminating those pre-run nerves.
I have a question for all of you! What do you think makes some runs better than others??
Someday’s I have amazing uplifting runs, but than other days (even if I am running the same exact route in the same conditions) I feel awful like I am going to die not even half way through! It is so weird and I never understand why this happens!
What affects your runs the most?
If you’re not a runner…sorry for all this running talk! I was just super excited so I decided to roll with the theme for today’s post! Here is a little food love to balance out the post:
Is anyone else never hungry after runs? The hunger always hits me a few hours later, but right after I am NEVER hungry! I always refuel though cause I know my body needs it!
Time to go shower up and get ready for a nice, big dinner! I have a baked potato that’s on its last leg and is just begging to be stuffed!
Oh and incase you missed it: I made an announcement about the recipe contest! Check it out….it’s a big change!
Have a lovely evening friends!
PS: Check out Ella’s new doo!
