Celebrate NATIONAL SANDWICH MONTH with 18 Healthy Sandwich Recipes! The ultimate roundup of wholesome and clean sandwich recipes to pack for lunch, bring on your next picnic, or eat for a quick meal.
Sandwiches. The quintessential staple of American lunches for as long as we can remember.
From the simple turkey to gooey grilled cheeses, peanut butter and jellies to creamy chicken salads. There’s a sandwich out there for EVERY taste, preference, and dietary need.
My personal favorite? Well it’s a little more complicated than the traditional meat and cheese combo…but I am a big fan of Caprese Sandwiches on freshly baked baguettes! Sure, I love a good ol’ PB and J when the craving strikes and you can’t beat a grilled cheese layered with melty cheese and fresh fruit, but when it comes to an ALL time favorite, the Caprese can’t be beat.
The first time I ever had one was at a local cafe, called Globe Market. It was when I was young and juuuuust starting to branch out with my culinary experiences. I asked my parents what it was and they encouraged me to try it since it would be something new for me….and different than my standard tuna salad or boring turkey!
I went for it and have never gone backwards. Now don’t get me wrong, a lot of places don’t have this type of sandwich! But when it IS on the menu, I take full advantage. The fresh creamy mozzarella, the layers of basil leaves, the thick, juicy tomato…oh and that PERFECT drizzle of balsamic vinegar on top. It just all works so well together. Plus, who doesn’t love warm baguette bread!? That was one of my FAVORITE things to eat while I was abroad last year.
But enough of my sandwich loves, let’s get into the real MEAT ( 😉 ) of today’s post. It’s NATIONAL Sandwich Month! July was National Picnic Month, so it ONLY makes sense that it’d be followed by National Sandwich Month, right?
So that’s what we’re celebrating today. ALL THINGS SANDWICH! I’ve rounded up 18 of the healthiest, most delicious sandwiches out there for you to pack in your next lunchbox or take to your next picnic. A good friend of mine said recently, “there’s nothing I’d rather have for lunch than a good hearty sandwich!” I’d have to agree…especially with options like these!
